What this policy covers

This policy covers the public website, blog, free Advancement Conversation Guide, newsletter signup, and related email inquiries. The Blueprint Career Guide has separate privacy, consumer health data, and terms notices. Creating a career-tool account doesn’t subscribe you to this newsletter.

Information collected and why

  • Newsletter: the first name and email address you submit, subscription status, and available signup records are used to manage your subscription and send newsletters, new essays, book updates, and occasional offers. MailerLite processes the form and subscriber list for this purpose.
  • Email inquiries: your email address, message, and information you choose to send are used to answer you and handle requests. Google Gmail processes these communications. Please don’t send passwords, identity documents, or unnecessary sensitive information.
  • Site delivery and security: Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, requests, and security events to deliver and protect the websites.
  • Email performance: MailerLite may process delivery, bounce, unsubscribe, open, and link-click information when email features are used. Open and click measurements can be affected by email-client privacy features and aren’t reliable proof that a person read a message.

Your newsletter choice

The guide is available without subscribing. If you choose the newsletter, the signup notice explains the emails you’re requesting before you submit your details. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or contact [email protected] to stop future marketing. Downloading the guide doesn’t require an email confirmation or delivery email. We won’t treat this policy update as permission to send marketing to someone who didn’t request it.

Providers and external services

We use Cloudflare for hosting and security, MailerLite for newsletter signup and email management, and Gmail for inquiries. These providers receive information needed for their services and may process it outside your state or country. Their service, security, and backup retention can differ from our own records. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-site targeted advertising. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, or protect rights and security. Book purchases on Amazon and visits to LinkedIn or other external sites are handled under those sites’ policies. We don’t collect payment-card details on this website.

Cookies and third-party loading

The newsletter widget loads only after you choose “Show newsletter signup.” Loading it connects your browser to MailerLite and may load its cookies and form resources. You can leave it unloaded and still read the site or download the guide. After loading it, use “Reset newsletter choice” to reload the page without the widget; this doesn’t unsubscribe you or erase cookies already set. Your browser settings can remove or restrict cookies.

We don’t install advertising pixels on these public pages. Cloudflare Web Analytics runs a browser beacon to measure visits and page performance. Cloudflare states that this service doesn’t use cookies, local storage, or fingerprinting to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare hosting and security services separately process technical information and may use security cookies. See Cloudflare Web Analytics. The blog’s LinkedIn links connect to LinkedIn when clicked; no LinkedIn sharing widget loads just from reading an essay. Your device handles the optional native share menu.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control don’t change the public pages’ behavior: optional newsletter loading requires your choice, and we don’t use these pages for personal-data sales or targeted advertising. Your choice here doesn’t control a third party’s site after you follow an external link.

Retention

We retain newsletter contact records while you’re subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we stop marketing to you and limit retained newsletter records to what’s needed to honor that choice. You can request deletion; after verifying the request, we remove the information where legally permitted, keeping only necessary unsubscribe records or information required by law. Removing an active record doesn’t instantly erase provider backups or security records. Provider deletion processes and their retention schedules also apply.

We retain correspondence as needed to answer the inquiry, handle a privacy request, or meet a legal obligation, and review it for removal when it’s no longer needed. Hosting and provider security records follow their applicable retention schedules.

Access, correction, deletion, and questions

Email [email protected] to request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of newsletter consent. Tell us which service and email address your request concerns. We may verify control of that address before acting; don’t send identity documents unless we explain why they’re necessary. Legal rights and response deadlines depend on where you live. If you disagree with our response, reply and ask for a review. Unsubscribing and requesting deletion are separate choices.

Children, security, and updates

The newsletter is intended for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided information, contact us so we can investigate and address it. No internet service can promise perfect security. We use service providers to support delivery and security, but a privacy notice isn’t a security guarantee.

We’ll post changes here with an updated effective date and provide additional notice or obtain consent when required. A policy change doesn’t itself authorize a new use that requires your consent.
